First League Perfecto In Four Seasons To The Day, Four-Time Hurler Of The Year Adds To Career Accolades
Future first ballot SIMBL Hall Of Famer Kenji Sato (above) threw the first perfect game in four seasons for the Pineapples in 2064 SIM 6. The 4-time SL Hurler Of The Year and 10-time All-Star hurled the second no-hitter of his career and at the time is only five wins away from becoming only the third pitcher in league history to win 300 career games. The 41 year-old #1 overall pick of the 2043 SIMBL Draft is in his 19th season and his first with Hawaii.

Wednesday, May 14th , 2064
The near-impossible occurred today: Kenji Sato pitched a perfect game, securing a place for himself in baseball history.
Starting for the Hawaii Pineapples, Sato defeated the Las Vegas Hustlers 5-0 in a no-run, no-hit, no-man-reach-first game -- the rarest of the rare.
"I knew what was going on," he acknowledged to BNN after the game. "I was hoping the fans would kind of shush a little bit. They were making me nervous."
When his perfect day on the mound ended, he pumped his fist twice at the ground as he was swarmed by his teammates. He made his way off the field to a standing ovation from the crowd and gave fans a final wave before disappearing into the clubhouse.
"You don't talk to the guy about it, of course, but I could tell he was confident," Pineapples manager David MacKenzie said. "He wanted it."
The right-hander walked nobody and struck out 5 in the game, for which he had a special audience in the stands -- his parents. Sato said his dad appeared puzzled in the clubhouse after the game and asked what all the excitement was about.
"He said he got there late, and I was like, 'Oh my gosh, you missed my perfect game!'" Sato recounted. "Of course, turns out he was kidding. They had seen the whole thing."
This season-to-date, Sato has fashioned a 3-2 mark and 3.60 ERA in 65 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .239 against him and he has logged 33 strikeouts. |
FELIPE SANTANA, KEI MORITA & BRUNO KING ELECTED INTO SIMBL HALL OF FAME AS CLASS OF 2064
Felipe Santana Enters SIMBL Hall Of Fame
All-time he played in 2731 games, batted .270 with 549 home runs, 2829 base hits, 1635 RBIs and 1642 runs scored -- stats great enough to be acclaimed a baseball immortal.
Felipe Santana was officially inducted into the SIM Baseball League Hall of Fame today. This was his 9th time on the ballot, where he was elected with 75.0% of the vote.
At his Hall of Fame induction, the superstar second baseman told the audience the secret of his success: "I was born to be a ballplayer... I also practiced a lot. Sunup to sundown in the summertime my brothers and I would be on the ballfield. We did it every minute we could. Boy, I loved to play baseball. Still do, and still would, if I could. I always got a special kick on opening day, no matter how many you went through. I looked forward to it like a birthday party when you're a kid. You think something wonderful is going to happen."
One of his managers summed up his career very well: "You saw him standing out there on the diamond and you knew you had a darn good chance to win the baseball game."
Santana retired from baseball in 2055, when he was 41. He wore a San Diego Warewolves hat at his induction ceremony.
Kei Morita Latest SIMBL Hall Of Fame Inductee
The way Kei Morita played baseball made the word "superstar" seem inadequate. He played the game at an even higher level and that's why he is now one of the immortals in the SIM Baseball League Hall of Fame.
Morita played in 3064 games with a .305 lifetime batting average. Among his 3627 hits were 719 doubles, 136 triples and 188 home runs. He also scored 2358 runs and drove in 1144 runs. Morita was 39 when he retired.
One of his teammates described the talented shortstop this way: "The greatness of Kei Morita was something that had to be seen... and to see him was to remember him forever."
Kei Morita was inducted into the Hall of Fame today after being elected by the Baseball Writers Association.
The new Hall of Famer told the audience, "I just went out and did my job every day... and I guess I must have done it well. Thank you for the honor you have given me today.
King Honored by First Ballot Selection to SIMBL Hall of Fame
How do you get to the SIM Baseball League Hall of Fame?
Just hit 500 homers, get 3000 hits, win 300 games or perhaps just save 300 games. Not an easy task, is it? But occasionally it does happen -- it happened to the gifted left fielder Bruno King, who retired at the age of 41.
Bruno King was recently inducted into the coveted shrine of hardball heroes by the Baseball Writers Association. King was always a favorite of the beat writers -- always quick with a quip and always willing to talk about the game -- but that's not why he got elected to the Hall of Fame. King played a good brand of baseball, too. He played in 2487 games, had 3009 hits, 346 home runs, 1459 RBIs and scored 1440 runs while batting .303 in his career.
Reminiscing about his life in baseball, King said it all began by hitting grand slam homers in the last of the ninth in his backyard and ended up in the Hall of Fame. "It was quite a trip. I can't believe they pay us money to play a kid's game. Thank goodness I was good at it. I only got a high school education and I had to cheat to get that. Who knows what I would have done without baseball. I was just a poor old country boy. For the longest time I even thought the last words of the national anthem were 'play ball'."
2064 SIMBL HALL OF FAME VOTING RESULTS:
The ballots are counted and the results are in. This year we will witness three players added to the Hall of Fame. Bruno King, Kei Morita, and Felipe Santana received the ultimate honor this year in being voted as the newest members of the Hall of Fame.
The full voting results are included here. Players require 66% of ballots cast to be elected to the Hall, may stay on the ballot for up to 10 years if they receive at least 0% of the votes. Players must be retired before they are eligible for induction to the Hall of Fame.

2063 SIMBL POSTSEASON FIELD SET
The Road To The 2063 SIMBL Coveted Cup Championship Has Arrived
Indianapolis teammates mob Roberto Marcano after his walk-off home run in the bottom of the 9th inning of Game Seven of the 2063 SLDS against Rochester advanced them to their second trip to the SLCS in the past three seasons.
Miami teammates celebrate after winning Game Five and taking the 2063 ULCS against Ann Arbor. The Sharks advance to their first SIMBL Coveted Cup Championship Series in 14 years since losing to River City in the 2049 SIMBL CS. Miami makes the 8th trip to the SIMBL title series and seek their second overall league championship and their first since the 2034 season as the former Dallas Texans twenty-nine seasons ago.
Miami's 2063 SIMBL Coveted Cup Championship Series Most Valuable Player Emelio Renteria (above center) takes a selfie while celebrating the bubbly after the Sharks' shocking 17-3 win in Game Seven of the 2063 SIMBL CS to give the franchise the second SIMBL championship in its 57-season history and their first in 29 seasons since their 2034 title as the former Dallas Texans.
Miami teammates take a sip of celebratory champagne from the ever-elusive SIMBL Coveted Cup after winning a hard-fought full seven-game series against Syndicate League champion Indianapolis. The Sharks win the second SIMBL championship in the franchise's full 57-season history and their first since the 2034 season as the former Dallas Texans, 29 years ago and are the defending 2063 SIMBL champions. The Rams have advanced to two of the past SIMBL Championship Series but lost to River City in six games in the 2061 SIMBL CS that earned the Rascals their 5th SIMBL title in the previous 14 seasons and in seven-games to this season's eventual and now reigning champion Miami.
