MIAMI VETERAN BRUNO KING BECOMES 19TH IN SIMBL HISTORY WITH 3000 CAREER HITS

37 Year-Old League Legend Kei Morita Steadily Climbing Towards Solid Chance At Overtaking His Country Mate Akiro As SIMBL All-Time Hit King

Miami teammates storm to the field in 2062 SIM 21 to celebrate the 3000th career hit of Bruno King who became only the 19th player in SIMBL history to achieve the coveted hit plateau.

Bruno King 3000th Hit

Sharks teammates mob Bruno King after the 17-year veteran joined 18 others in the SIMBL 3000 career hit club in 2062 Live SIM 21.  King was the 17th overall pick in the 2044 SIMBL Draft selected by the former Westbury Cannons (now Boston Patriots).  King immediately made his presence known by setting a still-standing SIMBL single-season record of 237 hits in 2047 and has had a SIMBL-record seven 200-hit seasons including another SIMBL record of six consecutive seasons with 200 hits from 2047-2052.  The 39 year-old King played his first 11 seasons with Westbury-Boston before playing three seasons with Calgary, two with Asheville and is in his first season playing for Miami.  King has hit .320 or better in an amazing nine seasons and will always be remembered as one of the best hitters in SIMBL history.

Number 3000 for Bruno King

By going 2-for-5 in the Miami 8-5 win over Ann Arbor, Bruno King reached the 3000-hit mark. The Michigan Stadium fans, friend and foe, burst into applause and King's teammates hugged and congratulated him on his achievement.

"The guys began the countdown weeks ago," said the newest member of the 3000 Club. "I don't know who was more excited -- them or me."

Lifetime King has hit .304 with 3000 hits, 346 home runs, 1459 RBIs and scored 1437 runs in 17 seasons.

LANCE'S LISTS: 2062 SEASON CRUISES PAST ALL-STAR BREAK, SEVERAL MILESTONES ACCOMPLISHED

Cleveland's 17-year veteran slugger Michael Lamb (above) knows it when he blasted his 550th career home run in 2062 SIM 17 becoming the 17th player to hit 550 home runs.  The 17th overall pick of the 2043 SIMBL Draft was drafted by St. Petersburg and played his first 12 seasons with the Admirals before signing with Montreal in free agency.  The two-time SIMBL champion, 7-time All-Star and 4-time Silver Slugger then played two seasons with Montreal and two with Indianapolis and is in his first season with the Brownies.  He has posted eleven 30-home run seasons and three 40-home run seasons in his SIMBL Hall Of Fame-gaining career.  Not just a big bat, Lamb's 12 Gold Gloves are tied with Manuel Ayala for the most in the league's 58-season history.

Hi again youngsters.  Lance Stanley reporting for the SIMBL.

In 2062 Live SIM 17, veteran Cleveland first baseman Michael Lamb made history by becoming only the 17th player in league history to hit 550 career home runs.

Veteran Bristol outfielder Daniel Sarachaga sits five home runs shy of joining Lamb in the club and should complete the task before the end of the season.

Earlier this season, Ann Arbor stalwarts Manuel Ayala and Franklyn Borba joined only eight others to have accumlated 500 career doubles and 500 career home runs.  Earlier this year, Ayala and Borba, who share three Union League Daryl Ryles Slugger Of The Year Awards between them, also became only the eighth and ninth players in SIMBL history to hit 600 career home runs.

Ironically, in addition to coming together on a short list, Lamb and Ayala are on an even shorter list as they both share the all-time SIMBL record with 12 Richard P. DeMarco Gold Glove Defensive Awards each.

Miami's Bruno King, one of the best hitters in SIMBL history with seven 200-hit seasons to his name and whose 237 hits in the 2047 season remains a single-season record, stands eleven hits shy of becoming only the 19th member of the SIMBL 3000 Hit Club and now is in a reduced role on the Sharks.

Let's take a quick "Lance's Lists" look at the current long ball leaders among active players that are currently on a team in the SIMBL.  Suffice to say when looking at this list that Roger Marcum's long-standing 705 career home runs record will stand for a long time even more.

SIMBL HITTING STREAK HISTORY

ADMIRALS' TOMMY PARKS HITTING STREAK ENDS AT 32 GAMES, TIED FOR FOURTH-LONGEST IN SIMBL HISTORY

St. Petersburg First Baseman Becomes Only 9th Player In League History To Hit Safely In 30 Or More Consecutive Games

St. Petersburg first baseman Tommy Parks (above right) reacts after ending his 32-game hitting streak in 2062 SIM 12.  Parks' streak ties for the fourth-longest in the SIMBL's 58-season history and he becomes only the 9th player in league history to have hit in 30 or more consecutive games. The 19th overall pick of the 2047 SIMBL Draft is a two-time All-Star and was a big part of the Admirals 2056 SIMBL championship team.

Tommy Parks had his hitting streak snapped at 32 games today during a 3-2 St. Petersburg win over the Chicago Hitmen at Skull Rock Stadium. The 33-year-old first baseman was hitless in 4 at-bats.

"Had to end sometime," Parks said, shrugging.

The 12-year veteran's historic hitting streak ties for the fourth-longest in SIMBL history and he becomes only the ninth player in the SIMBL's 58-season history to have hit in 30 consecutive games.

Parks's current batting average stands at .257 and he has chalked up 17 home runs and 46 RBIs.

MEMORIAL DAY 2023: IN MEMORY WITH GRATITUDE

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY 2023 TO ALL IN THE SIMBL FAMILY AND THANKS TO ALL WHO SACRIFICED AND TO THOSE WHO SERVED FOR THE FREEDOMS, SECURITY AND WAY OF LIFE THAT WE SOMETIMES TAKE FOR GRANTED

Please take a moment to reflect on the above and below as you read this.  If traveling, be safe guys.

I would not think that any sane man would want for war. There is no land that is worth the price of life. There is no amount of gold, nor of silver, nor diamonds, nor any physical treasure worth the price of life. I can not fathom the evil that causes man to take the life of their fellow man in pursuit of things not their own. There is no meaning in the sacrifice of life in the pursuit of these things. And there is no meaning in the sacrifice of life to defend these things. I can not imagine the desire of any man to to take up arms for this meaningless exchange. No, it is not the sane man that wants for war.

But there are times when war is the only thing left that can defend against those that are evil in our midst. Those that would send forth others in terror and aggression, cloaked in the lies and threats that only the evil can create, to enslave and take the lives of the innocent for their shallow desires. There are times when war becomes necessary. There are times when nation-states must enter into mortal conflict. Times when they must issue a call to arms to its people to defend the lives of the innocent, or fight for their freedom. These are the only times when war might have any meaning.

I am not so naive to believe that all the leaders of any nation-state that issues this call to arms, including America, are ever so completely noble as this. Evil is not contained by the borders of any nation-state. Evil is not contained within any nationality, or race, or class of people. For each of the American calls to arms there are some that have been made with noble intent, and some that have not. History and time have and will make those judgments.

But for each of these calls to arms there are American men and women that have left their homes, families, and peace to endure the hardships and horrors of war, spilling blood on a land not their own, to defend the innocent and fight for their freedom, and in doing so, ensured the ongoing freedom of the American people.

They did not want for war, but entered into it nonetheless. Ordinary people that exhibited extraordinary courage and valor when called to do so. They were of the American people, sent by the American people, entering into war for the American people. And many sacrificed their lives for the defense of the innocent, sacrificed their lives for the freedom of others, sacrificed their lives for their brothers and sisters in arms. They sacrificed their lives so that others might live.

And on this Memorial Day, I offer my deep gratitude to these American men and women. Those that went to war in noble pursuit when America called. Those that gave their service and their lives that I might have life and freedom and have it to the full.

To each and every one of these American veterans this Memorial Day, thank you.

- Jason Adam Young

"I am optimistic that if given the time and support of the American people, we can help create a country whose vast natural resources and potential will make it one of the strongest and most powerful nations in the region. Iraq will be our ally and they will not forget the sacrifices the American people have made on their behalf. I realize and understand that many back home are tired of this conflict and want it to end. I will not provide any argument there but I will offer that "wishing" away this problem is not reality. The Islamic extremists that wish to destroy us are not going away, they cannot be 'talked' to, and they will not negotiate."

- Richard DeMarco (Dad)

R.I.P. Dad. We will never forget.

The photo is of SIMBL GMs Christian and Jason DeMarco's mother receiving their father's flag a week before Memorial Day, May 23, 2009. Memorial Day will have an extra meaning than it already had, as taught by their father a former highly decorated Vietnam Veteran Marine Sergeant, for the rest of the lives of those who loved him and those who were so loved by him.  Former Bimingham Blue Sox/Astoria Goonies (now Seattle Seawolves) GM Jason DeMarco is in back of his mother with his hand on her shoulder to the right of the photo.  SIMBL Commissioner Christian DeMarco and Calgary Clippers GM is in back of him with the sunglasses.

Thank you father and to all veterans, past, present and future. You are an extraordinary breed.

Remember to thank a veteran this Memorial Day if you can who protect our way of life from those enemies who don't want us to have such freedoms. Most of all remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms which we sometimes take for granted on a daily basis.

During his tenure in the SIM Baseball League Popeye Parrish was nothing but class, on the field and off the field. Now he is part of the SIMBL Hall of Fame class of 2062, having been elected by 100.0% of eligible voters in his first time on the ballot for SIMBL GMs.

Lifetime, Parrish hit for a .282 average and totaled 3620 hits, 568 home runs and 1880 RBIs- one of only six players in league history with 1850 career RBIs.  His career featured rankings in many of the league's all-time Top 5 and Top 10 lists.  Upon his retirement, Parrish was one of only 9 players to finish their SIMBL careers with 500 home runs and 500 doubles.

Parrish was one of the SIMBL's all-time marquee players being selected to the SIMBL All-Star Game fourteen times which is tied for the third-most in league history.

Parrish, who hit .348 with a 1.025 OPS in 17 postseason games in leading the former Westbury Cannons (now the Boston Patriots) to the 2044 SIMBL championship, finished in the top ten of all major career statistics in his 23-year career.  The #4 overall pick of the 2038 SIMBL Draft finished 5th in hits, 11th in home runs, 6th in RBI, 3rd in WAR, 2nd in walks, 4th in runs scored and 3rd in total bases. The first-ballot Hall Of Famer played the second-most games in the SIMBL's 58-season history.

The fine third baseman was officially inducted today and took his place among baseball's best. He retired in 2061 at the age of 42.

One of his friends and former teammates told the audience, "The greatest thing he taught me was on my first day in the big leagues -- it was the hustle. He hit two one-hoppers to the pitcher and ran as hard as he could to first base. Popeye set a great example for me to model my career. His hustle and desire -- those were the little things that stood out for me. Plus he's one of the best hitters I've ever played with."

In his speech Parrish expressed his thanks and gratitude to the many people who helped make this wonderful day possible. "I have been truly blessed. I have been able to do something I love and get paid very well for it. There was no place that I ever wanted to be but on the baseball diamond every day doing what I love."

Parrish becomes the second player and first since Joe Tarnowsky back in 2042 to be voted into the SIMBL's hall of excellence unanimously.

There is a new statue in the SIM Baseball League Hall of Fame. It belongs to longtime San Diego ace Mark Sipp. The star pitcher was inducted this past weekend. All it took to get there was 239 wins."I always dreamed of being a SIM Baseball League player, but I never dreamed of being in the Hall of Fame," Sipp said, "I could have never envisioned myself standing next to my childhood idols and yet here I am. And to the Hall of Famers sitting behind me, I am truly humbled and in awe of standing here in front of you."

In his career, Mark Sipp, who is a nine-time All-Star, posted a record of 239-152 and fanned 3572 batters in 3720 innings with a 3.25 ERA.  He joined only First File Era great Bobby Grimes and Alan Alexander Anderson to ever win four consecutive Hurler Of The Year Awards winning the coveted trophy for the 2055, 2056, 2057 and 2058 seasons.  He, along with current Bend Bandits ace and future first-ballot SIMBL Hall Of Famer Eddie Batista, dominated the 2050's decade as the best pitchers of their respective leagues.

The #1 overall pick of the 2042 SIMBL Draft entered the SIMBL in the 2046 season and spent his entire 16-year career in a Warewolves uniform.  The 9-time All-Star helped lead San Diego to the 2055 SIMBL championship by posting a 2.35 ERA in 46 innings in 6 postseason starts.  Overall, the New York City native aided San Diego to nine postseason trips where he was 12-8 with a stellar 2.94 ERA in 24 career postseason starts.

Sipp becomes the 13th #1 overall pick of a SIMBL Draft to be inducted into the Hall and is the sixth consecutive former first overall pick that was drafted first from 2037-2042 to become a SIMBL Hall Of Famer.

At times Mark Sipp fought back tears as he thanked his family and close friends for sticking by him when he had to overcome some difficult personal problems.

Summing up his years on the diamond, Sipp offered a hopeful message to the large induction crowd.

"I care for this game with my heart and soul. I dedicated my life to being the best pitcher I could be. You leave me humbled and grateful for this honor. I'd like to leave an offering of a message of hope. That is, with the grace of God, you can change your life, whoever you are."

Kloss was a two-time Union League Slugger Of The Year Most Valuable Player in 2049 and 2051 for the Rush, a nine-time All-Star, three-time Silver Slugger, four-time Golden Glover, the 2050 Union League Divisional Series Most Valuable Player and hit. 309 with 8 home runs and 38 RBI in 52 games in four trips to the postseason.  The #7 overall pick in the 2041 SIMBL Draft played his entire 16-season career with the Rush.

One Of Only 2 Pitchers In SIMBL History
To Win Hurler Of The Year & Fireman Of The Year Awards

May 1, 2062

The journey took a while, but he finally arrived -- one of baseball's finest hurlers, Ken Hunter, is now a member of the SIM Baseball League Hall of Fame.

Commenting on his election, one of his longtime managers said, "My idea of managing is giving the ball to Ken Hunter and sitting down and watching him work. He certainly made my job easier. And he certainly made me a better manager."

And pitch he certainly did -- Hunter appeared in 545 games in his career, tossed 3057.1 innings with 2940 strikeouts and compiled an impressive 203-134 record and 3.32 ERA.

Hunter joins fellow SIMBL Hall Of Famer Keith Patterson as the only pitchers in SIMBL history to have won a Hurler Of The Year Award as his league's best starting pitcher and also have won a Middle Reliever Of The Year Award as his league's best middle reliever. Hunter came into the league as a much-heralded phenom reliever and promptly won the 2046 and 2047 UL Fireman Of The Year Awards before gradually being groomed into one of the SIMBL's best starting pitchers proven within five seasons when he was voted the 2051 UL Hurler Of The Year.  One season later, he helped the Enforcers to their SIMBL championship since the 2039 season.

Patterson is the only pitcher in league history to win all three major seasonal pitching awards: Hurler Of The Year, Middle Reliever Of The Year and Fireman Of The Year.

One of his opposing managers had this to say about Hunter, "Ken was one of the greatest pitchers I ever saw. He had knowledge, movement and form. It was wonderful to watch him pitch when he wasn't pitching against you. It was poetry in motion."

The newest member of the Hall of Fame retired at age 39 and will be inducted at ceremonies this weekend.  He will be inducted as a New York Enforcers with whom he spent 15 of his 16 SIMBL seasons with.
