THE SOUNDS & SMELLS OF SPRING TRAINING!
SIMBL GMs Getting Ready For 61st Season As 2065 Spring Training Arrives & Opening Day Approaches
The 2064 SIMBL champion Bend Bandits take to the field as the SIMBL begins Spring Training for the 2065 season and prepare for the league's 61st season of history. GM Ted Williams will attempt to become only the ninth team in the SIMBL's 60-season history to defend their title and win back-to-back championships. The road to defending the title is ever-challenging each season as several seasoned SIMBL GMs load up and upgrade each offseason with free agency and building through the draft. The upcoming 2065 SIMBL Draft will start upon Opening Day as well with the announcement of the 2065 SIMBL draft class on the April 1st league date and Opening Day slated for the April 6, 2065 league date. 2065 SIMBL Hall Of Fame ballots will also be needed from all SIMBL GMs when the ballot is also released on the March 5th, 2065 league date.

Sacramento ace Billy Lynch (above right) celebrates after the last out of his perfect game in 2045 SIM 12. The 35 year-old is in a contract season in his 12th season with the Giants.

One of the rarest feats in baseball occurred at Guinness Park: the perfect game.
Facing off against the Las Vegas Hustlers, Sacramento Giants hurler Billy Lynch gave up no runs, no hits, no walks and saw no errors in the 3-0 victory.
"This was one of those games where a good athlete was on top of his game," said Sacramento manager Jason Gregory after the game. "He had a tremendous rhythm out there. His focus, his concentration, his stuff, everything was as good as it could possibly be."
Lynch saw 27 batters and retired every one of them in order. He bewildered the Hustlers, striking out 4.
Late in the game, the right-hander sat by himself at one end of the dugout, staring at the ground. No one approached him, adhering to the baseball superstition that no one mention a no-hitter -- much less a perfect game -- until it is completed. When it was over, Lynch gave a simple fist pump, while his teammates mobbed him and the fans gave a standing ovation.
"A game like this was pretty special," Lynch said. "It doesn't come along very often."
This season Lynch has registered 13 wins and 2 losses in 16 starts with a 2.88 ERA.
SIMBL NO-HITTER FUN FACTS: Sammy Flynn while playing for Bristol, is the only pitcher in SIMBL history to throw three no-hitters in a career. Flynn threw three no-nos in six seasons in the 2028, 2029 and 2033 seasons...There have been only ten perfect games in the SIMBL's 41-season history or approximately an average of one every 4 seasons...Seven pitchers have thrown two no-hitters in their career....There have been 74 no-hitters thrown in 40 seasons as of Lynch's perfecto. 24 no-hitters were thrown in the 14-seasons of the SIMBL First File Era and 40 have been thrown in the 26-season history of the current SIMBL New File Era...The most no-hitters thrown in a season for the league was five thrown during the 2009 season and four thrown in the 2010, 2024 and 2030 seasons...The longest drought for no-hitters in the SIMBL was between 8/26/2036 and 4/29/2040 a period of over 3.5 seasons...Gilberto Perez is the only pitcher in SIMBL history to have thrown two no-hitters in a season doing so in the 2042 season.

RARE CEI HITS TWO-TIME SL MVP, TEN-TIME ALL-STAR KEEGAN BRYANT; FORCED TO RETIRE
San Diego's Keegan Bryant (above), a two-time SL MVP and ten-time All-Star, decided to retire after suffering a rare career-ending injury earlier this season and didn't recover as planned. Bryant suffered a gruesome finger injury on a slide and ruptured the tendon on his throwing hand in April. After extensive surgeries and rehab, things took a turn for the worst last week and doctors recommended amputation of the destroyed finger to alleviate Bryant's future health problems. Bryant, one of the SIMBL biggest stars throughout the 2030's, announced his retirement during 2045 SIM 9 and is the biggest name to succumb to the CEI bug since Toronto slugger Carlos Castillo, the Rush's second round pick in the 2019 SIMBL New File Era Inaugural Draft, went down early in his career during the 2021 season.
The San Diego Warewolves announced today that the playing career of center fielder Keegan Bryant looks to be over. Bryant, who had been trying to recover from a ruptured finger tendon, reported having more trouble with the injury recently and consulted specialists. Unfortunately, tests revealed that the injury had gotten worse and now Bryant will likely have to retire from the game.
Bryant is hitting .121 for the season with 2 home runs, 7 RBIs and 8 runs scored. He has 7 hits in 58 at-bats and played in 18 games.
Bryant, the #2 overall pick in the 2029 SIMBL Draft, played his entire 14-season career with the Warewolves. He won the SL Slugger Of The Year MVP Award in consecutive seasons in 2035 and 2036 and was a ten-time All-Star and one of only 27 players in SIMBL history to have 10 or more All-Star Game appearances.
The 34 year-old Bryant was rated as the best player in the SIMBL in the prime of his career and until recently often rated in the top ten annually. He finishes his career tied for 12th-place in the SIMBL New File Era (2019-current) with a .300 career batting average. Bryant also hit 338 home runs, drove in 1126 RBI and stole 564 bases. He had 10 seasons of 20+ home runs and five seasons of 30+ homers while posting ten seasons of 80+ RBI, six seasons of 90+ RBI and three seasons of 100+ RBI. Bryant was on a twelve-season run of stealing 30+ bases a season and stole 40+ bases seven times and 50+ five times. Bryant had five 30 HR-30 SB seasons in his 14-season career.
To add to his career achievements, Bryant won two Tony Aguilar Silver Slugger Awards after the award was introduced to the league after the 2040 season, one Richard P. DeMarco Gold Glove Defense Award, was named the 2037 SLDS MVP and led the 'Wolves to three SIMBL Coveted Cup Championship Series winning the SIMBL title in 2033. |
INDIANAPOLIS ACE MICHAEL MARTIN BECOMES 11TH PITCHER IN SIMBL HISTORY WITH 3000 CAREER STRIKEOUTS
Three-time SL Hurler Of The Year and ten-time All-Star Michael "Meatball" Martin (above) blazes to his 3000th career strikeout in 2045 SIM 7. Martin becomes the 11th pitcher in the SIMBL's 41-season history to achieve the high-mark plateau.
Indianapolis' 37 year-old ace Michael Martin made history in 2045 SIM 7 by becoming the 11th pitcher in SIMBL history to join the exclusive 3000 career strikeouts club.
The three-time SL Hurler Of The Year was drafted by San Diego in the first round with the 18th overall pick in the 2025 SIMBL Draft. He starred for the Warewolves from 2030-2040 when he won the SL Hurler Of The Year award for the 2035, 2036 and 2037 seasons and helped lead the 'Wolves to the 2033 SIMBL championship. He also hurled a no-hitter on April 7, 2031. Martin is also one of 23 pitchers to win over 200 games in their SIMBL careers and stands currently in 10th-place with a 233-177 career record with a 3.19 career ERA in his 16th season.
After his 11-season run with San Diego, Martin played four seasons with divisional rival Austin from 2041-2044. Martin signed a three-year $66,630,000 deal last off-season with Indianapolis and is currently 5-3 with a 2.71 ERA in 10 starts in his first season with the Rams. Martin's new deal makes him the third-highest paid pitcher in the SIMBL and the 8th-highest paid player in the league.
"Meatball" Martin is a ten-time All-Star and one of only six pitchers in the SIMBL's 41-season history to win three or more Hurler Of The Year awards.
Martin's older brother, Kelly Martin, was the #2 overall pick of the 2028 SIMBL Draft and is a three-time All-Star now in his 15th SIMBL season currently 3-3 with a 3.80 ERA in his first eight starts this season with Norfolk.

SIMBL GMS SHUT OUT NEW ENTREES IN 2045 HALL OF FAME VOTING
570 HR/1900 RBI Club Member Carl Chaulk & 3000-Hit Club Member Michael Caldwell Surprisingly Kept Out Of Hall As SIMBL GMs Refuse To Enshrine Any New Members In Annual Balloting For First Time In League History
Long-time Las Vegas third baseman Carl Chaulk (above) is one of only seven players to hit 570+ home runs, one of only five players to have 3100+ hits and one of only three players in SIMBL history to have 500 HR/1900 RBI in his career and was not voted in to the SIMBL Hall Of Fame in his first season of eligibility by SIMBL GMs in the annual SIMBL Hall Of Fame voting for the Class Of 2045. It is the first time no player has been voted in to the Hall since annual league voting began. Chaulk was the #3 overall pick of the 2020 SIMBL Draft by long-time Hustlers GM Carl Hannah. Chaulk was the 2023 SL Rookie Of The Year and a seven-time All-Star. He played his first 19 seasons with Las Vegas helping the Hustlers to the 2031 SIMBL championship. He finished his career playing the last four seasons of his 23-year career with Asheville. Chaulk retired with the third-most hits (3190), seventh-most home runs (577) and third-most RBI (1901) in SIMBL history yet was left out of the SIMBL Hall Of Fame in this season's balloting.
Long-time Colchester-Boston shortstop Michael Caldwell (above) is fifth on the SIMBL's all-time hit list with 3102 career hits and is one of only six players in the league's 41-season history to reach the coveted hit plateau but didn't impress SIMBL GMs enough to be voted into the SIMBL Hall Of Fame in his first season on the ballot. Caldwell was the #14 overall pick in the 2019 SIMBL New File Era Inaugural Draft by the former Colchester Choppers (now Boston Revolution) and promptly showed his worth by leading the league with 207 hits and hitting .316 in his first season at the age of 19 that year. Caldwell ended up playing his first eight seasons with the franchise before embarking on an eventual 25-season career playing for seven total teams while he remained unsigned for the entire 2036 season. Caldwell, at the age of 41, set a SIMBL record by going 13 seasons between All-Star Game appearances with a late-career surge and making the game in 2041. Caldwell retired after last season at the age of 44 sitting fifth on the SIMBL all-time hits list.
The ballots are counted and the results are in. Unfortunately, no player was elected to the Hall of Fame this year. The top vote getter was Francisco Martinez, who received votes from 55.6% of eligible electors.
The full voting results are included here. Players require 66% of ballots cast to be elected to the Hall, may stay on the ballot for up to 10 years if they receive at least 0% of the votes. Players must be retired before they are eligible for induction to the Hall of Fame.
