SIMBL HISTORIC MOMENTS UPDATED CLICK HERE

'THE STREAK' ENDS AT 78 GAMES

Sunnyvale Closer McFadden's Amazing & Historic Consecutive Saves Streak Ended By Manhattan Beach

ALL GOOD THINGS MUST COME TO AN END: Sunnyvale closer Robert McFadden (above) reacts to Manhattan Beach CF Jamal Wilson's game-tying triple on August 30, 2020.  Wilson's RBI triple broke McFadden's historic 78 consecutive saves streak in 2020 SIM 21.  Seals SS Alberto Alvarez then brought in Wilson with a sacrifice fly to also give McFadden the loss for a bittersweet ending to the longest saves streak in the SIMBL's 16-season history.

Sunnyvale Trailer Park Boys closer Robert McFadden's amazing and historic SIMBL consecutive saves streak ended in 2020 SIM 21 after 78 games.  It was "The Amazing Mick's" first blown save of his SIMBL career dating back some 115 games and 78 save opportunities to the beginning of the SIMBL New File Era.

In one of the most historic streaks in SIMBL history, "Mick" took the loss in a 5-4 loss to Manhattan Beach on August 30, 2020.  McFadden came into the game in the top of the ninth with a 4-3 lead to do what he did so many times in his SIMBL career: save the game for Sunnyvale.

McFadden walked Seals 3B Bob Burgess to start off the ninth.  Speedster Joe Henry was put in to pinch run for Burgess by Manhattan Beach and promptly stole second base.  After getting Mike Butler to strike out looking, Seals CF Jamal Wilson continued his solid season by tripling in Butler blowing the save and tying the game at 4-4.

Seals All-Star SS Alberto Alvarez then drove in Wilson with a sacrIfice fly to put the Seals up 5-4 before McFadden closed the inning by getting the always-dangerous Matthew Boggs to flyout to end the inning.

Manhattan Beach closer Donnie Ames then got out of the bottom of the ninth to earn his 28th save of the season giving McFadden the loss and ending his historic saves streak at 78 consecutive games.

Prior to McFadden's streak, Former Columbus Thundercats two-time UL Fireman Of The Year Aaron Bennett held the SIMBL record of 46 consecutive saves set way back during the 2007 season, a mark that McFadden shattered last season.  Former Calgary closer John Campbell came close to tying the record in 2009 but came up three saves short as his streak ended at 43 straight games which remains the third-best saves streak in SIMBL history.

New York All-Star closer Andrew Steele now holds the longest current consecutive save streak in the SIMBL at 32 games after 2020 SIM 21.
