SIMBL POSTSEASON HISTORY

CALGARY WINS 2023 SIMBL TITLE WITH DRAMATIC GAME SEVEN EXTRA INNING WALK-OFF VICTORY

Heartbroken Las Vegas Comes Back From 5-1 Deficit In 2023 SIMBL CS Game Seven Only To Let Title Slip Away

Calgary Clippers players hoist up the 2023 SIMBL Coveted Cup after winning a dramatic Game Seven in the bottom of the tenth inning against Las Vegas to give the Clippers only the second championship in five SIMBL CS appearances and in 16 overall trips to the postseason in the SIMBL's 19 seasons of play.

2023 SIMBL Coveted Cup Championship Series:
Game One: Calgary 8 Las Vegas 7 (12 Innings)
Game Two: Las Vegas 7 Calgary 3
Game Three: Las Vegas 8 Calgary 2
Game Four: Calgary 6 Las Vegas 5
Game Five: Calgary 8 Las Vegas 1
Game Six: Las Vegas 10 Calgary 6
Game Seven: Calgary 6 Las Vegas 5 (10 Innings)

The UL and SL top seeds proved in the 2023 SIMBL Coveted Cup Championship Series why they were just that as the title series went an entire seven games and into extra-innings in Game Seven to provide a 2023 SIMBL Champion.  This year's series is the first to be won with a walk-off Game Seven win since Bristol defeated Chicago in the same fashion in the 2017 SIMBL CS.

The series could signify the future of the SIMBL title contenders as it put a veteran star-powered Calgary team up against a young up and coming Las Vegas squad as both solid squads could be possibly contending against each other for seasons to come.

The Calgary Clippers of GM Christian DeMarco end an infamous 1 for 15 postseason record of postseason futility by winning the second SIMBL championship in the team's 19-season history and the first since the 2018 season.

Las Vegas GM Carl Hannah's Hustlers came up just short as they held a two games to one series lead and came back from 4-0 and 5-1 deficits in Game Seven to force extra-innings before a walk-off win in the bottom of the 10th inning by the Clippers in Calgary's Victors Field ended their first chance at a SIMBL title since their 2013 and 2015 championship seasons.

Calgary won a twelve-inning Game One walk-off and then watched Las Vegas win the next two games to go up 2-1 in the series.  The Clippers won Games Four and Five to go up three games to two on the Hustlers before the Hustlers pounded Calgary in Game Six on the road to force the deciding Game Seven.

Las Vegas and Calgary aces Alan Alexander Anderson and Robert Swift battled it out throughout seven innings in Game Seven as the Clippers went up 4-0 and 5-1 on the Hustlers.  The two-time defending SL Central Champions battled back to tie the game 5-5 on a two-run blast from Kory Stone off of the past two season's UL Middle Reliever Of The Year Bob Detty.

The scored remained 5-5 as Las Vegas left a man on base in the top of the ninth inning and Calgary stranded two runners in the bottom of the ninth inning to force extra innings.

The Hustlers got 2B Cal Roberts aboard in the top of the 10th on a rare walk by reigning UL Fireman Of The Year Barrett Jenkins but the Clippers closer got out of it by getting SL Rookie Of The Year Carl Chaulk to ground into a double play and struck out Bartolo Chira to end the top of the tenth.

With the sellout home crowd at Victors Field jamming, SL Fireman Of The Year candidate Cedric Isaacson, who became the sixth closer in SIMBL history to achieve a 50-save season this season, entered the game and quickly struck out the first two batters in the bottom of the tenth before veteran Calgary 3B Steve Waddell singled.  On a 0-1 pitch Clippers longtime shortstop Joaquin Pena became a hero to a generation of Calgary fans as he singled in speedy pinch-runner Paul Lewis who had stolen second base the pitch before to give the hard-luck Clippers only their second SIMBL Coveted Cup Championship in the franchise's 19-season history.

Congratulations to Calgary GM Christian DeMarco and Las Vegas GM Carl Hannah on a great series and congratulations to all SIMBL GMs on another great season of play.

The SIMBL LCS and SIMBL CS MVPs announcement is forthcoming.

The SIMBL's 20th Anniversary is coming up next with the off-season and league file transfer information from OOTP 11 to OOTP 13 forthcoming on the January 1, 2024 league date.
