ROOSTERS FIRST TO CLINCH 2038 POSTSEASON BERTH AS CRAZY BATTLES WILL GO DOWN TO THE WIRE
Looking At The Old Fashioned Math, Facts & Baseball Numbers, Rochester Looks Like Scary Championship Material On Paper, Can They Deliver Off Paper?
Most Other Playoff Berths Will Likely Go Down To Last Games Of The Season
Rochester star outfielder Logan Pickard (above) was the #1 overall pick of the 2030 SIMBL Draft and is in eighth season with the Roosters and at 29 years-old already is a four-time All-Star, finished second in the 2035 SL MVP voting and is a two-time Gold Glove winner and has perennially finished in the top-five in all major offensive statistics league-wide. He has appeared in three postseasons with Rochester though has not advanced past the first round in any season. Pickard, rated as one of the top ten players in the SIMBL since he put on a SIMBL uniform, now hopes he can lead and contend for a SIMBL championship with what he and many SIMBL pundits believe is a very strong Roosters team built to contend this season for the ever elusive SIMBL Coveted Cup.
Rochester's rotation has methodically and carefully been crafted through the SIMBL draft to contend for seasons to come. Some tough losing seasons in a very tough SL East division for years at a time yielded some high draft picks such as 27 year-old Brett Mester (above) now in his sixth season with the Roosters and won the 2034 SL Rookie Of The Year Award with a 15-9 record and 3.66 ERA. Mester was picked #3 overall in the 2029 SIMBL Draft and is a two-time All-Star and is 15-8 with a 3.53 ERA this season in helpin lead the Roosters to the 2038 SL East title. Mester joins fellow former first rounders and All-Stars Kerry Hannah (#24 overall in 2026, five-time All-Star including this season), Felix Romero (#17 overall in 2025, one-time All-Star), Dana Sly (#12 overall 2nd round 2024 Draft, two-time All-Star) and Jack Callahan (#2 overall in 2026 two-time All-Star). Coupled with a bullpen ranked third in the SL and their rotation also ranked third in the SL and an offense that is ranked first in runs scored, second in batting average, first in on base percentage and third in home runs, it is time to take Rochester seriously as a 2038 SIMBL championship contender not also mentioning offensive SL MVP candidate first baseman Akato Sakata, the former 6th overall pick of the 2033 SIMBL Draft, who is pounding SL pitching with a .327 average and 31 HR and 104 RBI and a .961 OPS. The Roosters may be the team to beat 1-9 and 1-5 and with a solid bullpen and Hall Of Fame-bound closer in Otto Orf this season for the SIMBL marbles.
After a slight Thanksgiving Day delay, 2038 SIM 25 is in the books and we are down to the final two SIMs and final 13 games of the 2038 SIMBL season. The new 9/20/2038 league file has been officially updated and the league reports, utilities and SIMBL Front Page are being worked on and will be updated shortly. Refresh your browsers until you see the new 9/20/2038 league date if using the site. Congratulations to Rochester GM Tony Christman on clinching his second consecutive SL East division title as the first clincher of the 2038 SIMBL season. The Roosters (89-60) can now rest their solid pitching rotation consisting of homegrown drafted and developed All-Stars Kerry Hannah, Brett Mester and Felix Romero (all 30 or younger) and free agent additions Jack Callahan, a former top five draft pick of Tampa Bay, and Knoxville former All-Star Dana Sly, (both 32 years-old) while the other 7 SIMBL postseason slots will be fought for and eventually filled in the next couple of days.
The Roosters make it to the postseason for the 15th time in 34 seasons as a SIMBL franchise. It's their 13th overall divisional title and they made it also as a wildcard twice. The franchise has only advanced as far as the SLCS in the 2018 SIMBL season as the former Ruston Roosters losing to San Diego before San Diego advanced and lost to Calgary in the 2018 SIMBL Coveted Cup Championship Series to end the SIMBL First File Era (2005-2018) before the league was forced to retire the beloved first file and start anew with the as much beloved current file the league still uses and has used for six real-life years now and 20 seasons.
In the UL East, Chris Gattuso's New York Enforcers (97-52) not only hold the SIMBL's commanding best record by 8 games over any other team but have a magic number of one to clinch their first divisional title in nine seasons and only four seasons removed from a disastrous 51-111 season in 2033, just five seasons ago, that led them to the #1 overall pick in the 2034 SIMBL draft leading them to pick shortstop Jeff Kovach who is developing into the best shortstop in the league if not into one of the best young players in the SIMBL and with possible MVP seasons ahead of him for seasons to come to possibly lead an Enforcers resurgence and a long run in the UL East? New York holds an 12 game lead with 13 to play over a Westbury (80-63) team that was picked to finish below .500 this season and 17 games ahead of Bristol (75-68) and 18 over last season's UL East champion Whitby (74-69) in the toughest division in the SIMBL this season. In the wild UL Central, Dallas GM Robert Don's perennial contending Texans (88-61), currently in an 8-game losing streak right now, still somehow hold a slim one-game lead over reigning SIMBL GM Of The Year Eric Savard's defending SIMBL champion Toronto Rush (87-62). In the UL West, long-time and charter Bend GM Ted Williams' Bandits (69-80) hold a one-game lead over Cleveland GM Dean Hightower's Brownies (68-81) and a two-game lead over Seattle GM Kevin Norris' surging Seawolves (67-82) in a division that will also go down to the wire.
Just for SIMBL facts sake, the 2030 Rochester Roosters had the worst record in the SIMBL's 34-season history with a 71-91 clip to ever win a division and represent a division in the SIMBL postseason. The winner of the season's UL West will go into the playoffs with an ugly losing record but we've seen anything and everything happen once the wild SIMBL postseason begins so don't ever count anybody or any team out.
With the SL East wrapped up with Rochester, the SL Central appears to also be wrapped up for the sixth straight season as the Knoxville Lumberkings of GM Andy Hutchinson (89-60) hold a 10-game lead over Asheville GM Pete McGowan's Smokies (79-70) with 13 games left to play. Hutch's six-season supremacy will join the long division all-time runs of San Diego and Calgary in SIMBL history books of seasons past. In even tighter races, as it stands right now in the UL wildcard race, Toronto (87-62) holds a three-game lead over Westbury GM Bill Atteberry's Cannons (84-65) and a seven-game over Bristol GM Greg Checovetes' Owls (80-69) and Whitby GM John Callahan's Battalion (79-70) all teams who have had solid playoff-worthy seasons. It also appears that every team in the UL East and in the SL Central will most likely finish the season with all winning records a feat which will be a first in SIMBL history in which two divisions will have accomplished all winning records. In the SL wildcard race, more of the same as McGowan's Smokies (79-70) hold a tight one-game lead over the upstart and youth rebuilt Tampa Bay Silverbacks of GM Tim Melican (78-71) and two-games back are the ever sly and always ready Las Vegas Hustlers of GM Carl Hannah (77-72). All three SL Central teams stand ten games behind Knoxville but are within three games of each other battling for the SL wildcard. But don't count out those in the SL West as well. San Diego GM Paul Ware's Warewolves' (77-72) hold a slim two-game lead over Hawaii GM Troy Vogel's Pineapples (75-74) in which would be San Diego's seventh consecutive SL West title if they can hold off Hawaii who are looking for their first division title since the 2031 season. The Pineapples as it is stand four games back in the SL wildcard race while Josh Callahan's Hollywood Stars (73-76) hold a chance being six games back with 13 games to go. So here we go again SIMBL pundits and followers. Another season will go down to the wire with the final two SIMs and 13 games to go on Saturday and the final regular season SIM on Monday night. If any one-game playoffs are needed, and there have been a handful in the SIMBL's 34-season/10-year real-life history, it will be announced obviously and given enough fair time to be performed as we head to another postseason.
