John Treadway Dalton (2013, 2015)

Congratulations to St. Petersburg Admirals GM David Bliley on being voted by his SIMBL peers as the 2060 SIMBL GM Of The Year.

Dave is a charter SIMBL GM dating back to the league's inaugural season back in September, 2006 when the league was founded.  He founded the former charter Los Angeles Meat Puppets (now Hawaii Pineapples) where he ran the team and was an active league member and SIMBL League Board member from the inaugural 2005 season through the 2021 season when he stepped down needing a hiatus.

Before starting fresh with everybody else when the SIMBL was founded, David was GM of Norfolk in the short-lived but much-loved NABF online league (2004-2006) run by former Marin Mountainmen (now Sacramento Giants) GM Tom Hickman from which the remnants of the SIMBL was born with several GMs from that folded league becoming charter and founding GMs of the then-fledgling SIMBL in the fall of 2006, some 16 real-life years ago.

In those fourteen First File Era (2005-2018) and three New File Era (2019-current) seasons, David and his Los Angeles squad won four division titles, one wildcard berth and advanced to the SIMBL Coveted Cup Championship Series three times.  Dave's Meat Puppets won the Union League in 2009 (real-life date: January 18, 2008),  2012 (real-life date: September 28, 2008) and 2016 (real-life date: December 2, 2009) and faced off against First File Era juggernaut San Diego, who won their first seven of their current SIMBL-record 12 league championships between the 2005-2016 seasons, with Los Angeles losing each time in heartbreaking fashion to his nemesis Warewolves of longtime San Diego GM Paul Ware giving the Warewolves three of their first seven league titles at Dave and his Meat Puppets' expense.

To add to more irony, or for Dave-more misery, his nemesis picked up where they left off some twelve real-life years ago and knocked out Dave's new Admirals team in seven games this season in the 2060 Syndicate League Divisional Series.

Good grief, Charlie Brown...

David's favorite franchise players from those early years were First File Era SIMBL Hall Of Fame pitcher James Sousa, who played his first 13.5 seasons with Dave's 'Puppets en route to 234 career wins, and his 16th overall pick in the 2005 SIMBL First File Era Inaugural Draft Alberto "Jitters" Andrade. David was also running the ship for Los Angeles when the league updated to OOTP 10 from OOTP 6.5 with the 2019 SIMBL New File Era Inaugural Draft where his initial picks, along with every other GM in the league at that time, were lukewarm.  He was instrumental in helping governing the league that established the new rules and decisions as a league that were needed that came with such a monumental jump from the First File Era (OOTP 6.5) to the New File Era (OOTP 10 and beyond).

David was voted the 2009 SIMBL GM Of The Year with his UL Champion Los Angeles Meat Puppets.  With Dave's award this season, he joins former longtime Rochester and Oregon GM Jamey Carter as the only SIMBL GMs to be voted the SIMBL GM Of The Year with two different franchises.

David returned to the SIMBL after a 39-season and over a 12 real-life year hiatus taking over longtime St. Petersburg GM Brandon Popper's Admirals during the 2059 season on June 28, 2022.  In his first full season at the helm of the Admirals, he turned a 66-96 team into a 91-71 team that won the SL East division for the sixth time in the past seven seasons. The 25-game improvement was one of only a handful of 25+ win one-season turnarounds in the SIMBL New File Era (2019-current).

Two-time defending SIMBL champion and last season's SIMBL GM Of The Year AC Kansas City GM James Walker came in second-place in the voting.  Longtime New York Enforcers GM Chris Gattuso came in third in the balloting while Indianapolis Rams GM Bryan Gryka, the award winner two seasons ago, received the only other vote.

The veteran Chicago hurler posted a record of 22 wins and 8 losses this year with a 2.27 ERA. In 33 starts he struck out 157 and walked 45 in 249.1 innings.  The former first overall pick of the 2043 SIMBL Draft and 10-time All-Star is one win away from becoming only the 12th pitcher in SIMBL history to win 250 career games.

Knoxville's Marian Chandler received the only other vote in the balloting this season.

Ricardo Cortez said with his contract set to expire, it was important he put up a big season with the Boston Patriots. He did exactly that and has won the 2060 Union League Bob Detty Middle Reliever Of The Year Award.

"When your contract is about to expire and you're maybe going to become a free agent, you really want to show the league that you've still got it," the 32-year-old said. "I think I proved myself and should be able to get a pretty good contract now."

His season saw opponents hit only .188 against him, while he fashioned a 1.62 ERA over 94.1 innings of work. He made 32 relief appearances and had no saves, with 65 strikeouts, 25 walks and a record of 6-0.

Toronto's Chris Lyons came in a distant second in the voting this season.
